Unsightly or excessive body and facial hair can be uncomfortable and upsetting for both women and men, as well as being difficult to remove and inconvenient. Although several methods of hair removal are available most are temporary, messy and can often make the situation worse. At Rejuvenation MedSpa & Vein clinic we offer IPL hair removal treatments to permanently reduce unwanted body and facial hair, so you can have the freedom and confidence to wear the outfits you want, without first having to worry about removing unwanted hair.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. IPL systems will release controlled pulses of filtered light that are then absorbed by the pigment in hair, the melanin. This process thoroughly heats the hair and destroys the cells responsible for growth, therefore achieving long term hair reduction.
IPL is a safer alternative to laser hair removal. It can also target more hair due to its increased wave lengths. IPL can deliver hundreds of wavelengths in each burst of light. Laser hair removal has only one wave length and therefore cannot target as many hairs. It is also a less painful option.
No, IPL hair removal can be performed on several parts of the body including; face, back, neck, arms, underarms and bikini. Rejuvenation MedSpa & Vein clinic offer IPL hair removal procedures for all of these areas. Multiple treatments spread over six to eight weeks are recommended for best results.
We recommend our patients avoid bleaching, waxing or tweezing of the hair two weeks prior to your treatment. Hair should be clipped or shaved the day before your treatment. To ensure a safe treatment we recommend you avoid tanning or the use of self-tanners prior to treatment.
After your treatment we advise our patients to avoid exposure to the sun for up to one week unless the use of high factor sun block is used on the treated area. It is also recommended that you apply 1% hydrocortisone to the treated area.
IPL hair removal does not completely destroy the hair follicles, which have great powers of re-growth; therefore it is not considered a permanent solution. Patients will usually see some regrowth within a year after the treatments. IPL is designed to reduce the normal hair growth cycle on the treated part of the body.
